I make a very dry starter with whole grain and keep adding whole wheat or rye until you can't add more and still form it into what looks like a whole grain cookie. This cookie then goes into my purse loosely sealed in a plastic bag or into an insulated snack bag. Once I arrive at my destination - I crumble the cookie into a jar or glass and add flour and water to reconstitute.
